Leach International Introduces Lightweight, High-current, Microprocessor-controlled Contactors
BUENA PARK, Calif. -- Leach International has introduced a series of smart, high-current, 3-phase AC contactors. These new Electrical Load Control Units (ELCUs) combine high-current switching with microprocessor control.
The Series WE and ZE contactors can carry a steady-state current of 25 to 400 amps at 115/200 VAC, 400 Hz, 3 phase, and they have an overload capability up to 2,500 amps. They meet MIL-R-6106 requirements and are tested to extreme conditions of vibration, temperature and EMI. A special plug-in interface allows for quick-change installation.
Utilizing integrated current transformers, the Series WE and ZE contactors sense current in each phase and process the information using a microprocessor and internal circuitry. Based on programmed instructions, the microprocessor commands the contactors to react to the sensed current. The contactors can be programmed to react to varied situations depending upon system requirements.
The Series WE and ZE contactors are designed to respond to phase current imbalance, under-voltage lockout and violation of l2t curves. Anti-cycling protection and time-out monitoring are also included. Electronic and electromechanical designs are combined to provide a small, lightweight, rugged assembly.
Leach International also offers Line Replaceable Contactor (LRC) versions in latching and center-off configurations. The Series W and Z contactors have similar physical features and characteristics of the Series WE and ZE, but without the advanced electronics capabilities.
Leach International Corporation, a leader since 1919 in high-reliability power switching components, manufactures electrical switching and control devices for the aerospace and rail industries. The company has operating units in Europe and Asia in addition to its North American facilities. |
