NASA Selects Leach International for Custom-designed Electronics Power Module
 BUENA PARK, Calif --Leach International has been contracted by NASA to produce 60 custom-designed solid-state power controller (SSPC) boards for use on the X-38 escape module, according to Mark Thek, president of Leach International North America.
Designed to operate relays, solenoids and other loads, the SSPC boards control the distribution of DC power to the escape module functions. The boards are comprised of a printed circuit mounting card designed to hold up to 27 SSPCs of various current ratings. They also have integrated heatsinks that form the mounting for the boards, enabling them to be easily inserted into the module housing.
"These boards combine Leach International’s highly trusted, military qualified components with its expertise in designing products to meet special requirements," says Thek. "This combination results in a product that offers low development risk and high reliability."
