Leach International Introduces Ground Fault Protection Feature For H Contactor
Leach International has introduced a Ground Fault Protection (GFP) feature designed for its existing type H contactor. The addition of the new GFP enables the H contactor, which is a 3PDT device used extensively in aircraft and military vehicle electrical systems, to quickly interrupt and isolate potentially dangerous ground faults
.Incorporating the GFP feature into the H contactor assembly significantly reduces the contactor's release time - from greater then 20 mS to less than 8 mS - with no degradation to its performance. Leach accomplished this reduction in release time, which substantially lowers the risk of personnel injury and damage to the wiring or aircraft equipment, through the use of a proprietary circuit.
Leach used both miniaturization techniques and exotic magnetic material to incorporate the GFP into the H contactor with little impact to its size. Adding GFP increases the unit's height by only .40 inches and its weight by just two ounces. The GFP-enhanced contactor maintains the same interface and footprint as an original H contactor so existing units easily can be replaced with those featuring GFP.
As an added plus, the GFP circuit also can be incorporated into the majority of Leach International products, including smaller relays. |
