Leach International Honored by Boeing
Buena Park, Calif. -- Leach International has been recognized by the Long Beach, Calif.-based Boeing Company in appreciation of its outstanding performance on a recent C-17 retrofit project, according to Mark Thek, president of Leach International North America.
"The project, which comprised analysis, identification and resolution of problems associated with a Static Line Winch Relay, was dramatically expedited by Leach in order to accommodate Air Force requirements and allow the C-17 fleet to perform it's mission" says Mark DeVoss, general manager, Supplier Management, Boeing Company.
Rigorous tests performed by Leach determined that problems on the C-17 could be resolved by replacing two 25-amp relays with a single Leach HC Series contactor. This required retrofitting 68 aircraft in the fleet with the new contactor.
"Given the state of world affairs, it was critical that we do all we could to expedite the manufacture and delivery of the parts required to eliminate the flight restrictions imposed on the C-17 fleet," explains Thek. "By coordinating all our efforts, we were able to reduce the normal lead time on the new part from 18 weeks to approximately three. This enabled Boeing and the Air Force to complete the retrofit project in record time."
Leach International Corporation, a leader since 1919 in high-reliability power switching components, is one of the largest manufactures of electrical switching and control devices for the aerospace industry. |
